Sarah and James’ Wedding – Bickleigh Church, Plymouth Hoe, Duke of Cornwall Hotel – Plymouth Wedding Photography

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Sarah and James’ wedding here in Plymouth. The day started with bridal preparations at Sarah’s parent’s house then off to meet the boys at Bickleigh church ready for the ceremony, after a few group photos outside we then headed up to Plymouth Hoe for some shots with James and Sarah before going to the Duke of Cornwall Hotel for the reception.

The weather again turned out great after initially threatening ot be wet and horrible so that made things even better. Sarah and James are a very easy couple to photograph, as far as I could tell they were not worried at all about being in front of the camera so this made my life very easy. There was a minor set back of one of the bridal cars breaking down, but this was sorted and a replacement car was waiting at the end of the ceremony to take the happy couple off to the Hoe.

The Hoe is a great venue for anyone local, it has many locations to work with and great views, added to that, the Duke also has some lovely elements which allowed us to get some additional great intimate photos of the two of them.

As ever I’ve written too much and most of you haven’t got this far down so time for some photos.

Plymouth Wedding Photo Booth – Sarah and Matt @ Polhawn Fort

To finish off a great day in style and with a load of fun Sarah and Matt had opted for the wedding photo booth and it didn’t disappoint. Sarah had made a great sign and also brought along a good selection of props and chalk boards to help their guests have even more variety of photos.

Polhawn Fort Wedding – Sarah and Matt – St Peters Church – Plymouth Wedding Photography

For those of you who read my blog regularly I’m sure you will think that I sound like a stuck record, but I’m going to say it again, what a great wedding. Sarah and Matt are a fantastic fun and totally in love couple.

Preparations took place at Polhawn Fort in Cornwall and then we headed back to Plymouth and St Peters Church for the service then back down to Polhawn Fort for the reception. This is my 2nd time at Polhawn so far this year and I have one more there in the summer, but I hadn’t been to St Peter’s before. It was very refreshing to photograph in such a well lit church, making my life easier then many churches where lighting is much lower.

I mentioned in the week to Matt and Sarah that I would love to find a rapeseed field and I’m really pleased that we did as the colours were fantstic and it’s only something is around for a short amount of time. Back at the venue we were able to get down to the private beach and use other elements of the Fort so there was a good deal of variety.

Borringdon Hall Wedding – Sarah and Paul – Wembury Church – Plymouth Wedding Photography

Sarah and Paul both now live in Birmingham but Paul is from this neck of the woods and his parents still live down here and I’m really pleased that they did as I had so much fun working with them.

Peparations took place at Borringdon Hall then on to Wembury Church and back to Borrindon for the wedding.

The theme colour was a lovely cadbury purple which worked really well on both the bridesmaids and all the men so a great choice!

The only disappointing part of the day was the weather didn’t want to play ball after the ceremony so we had to cut short the group shots and also we couldnt’ get the planned shots on Wembury Beach which is a shame. However, we were able to find a bit of a break in the weather at Borringdon hall and got some cracking shots there.

Oh, and we even had Sir Francis Drake with us at the reception for a bit of extra colour.

Sarah and Andy – Pre Wedding Shoot – Radford Park, Plymouth

Sarah and Andy were not sure where they wanted their photos, so I suggested popping down to Radford Park which is just before you get to Hooe and it worked out really well. There is a nice mix of park and having the lake plus the old building which I’ve never been able to find out the history of.

The weather on the day of the shoot wasn’t looking good with thunder just before I left home, but when we got to the location it was perfectly fine and there was some nice blue patches in the otherwise pretty grey clouds. The potentially bad weather didn’t put Sarah and Andy off and after the usual initial nerves of being photographed things went great. They are a lovely couple, a lot of fun to be with and I know their wedding in a couple of months will be a really enoyable one.

The Wedding Photo Booth is here!

I’m pleased to formally announce my new wedding photo booth. I’ve been working on an offering that is not only more cost effective than one of the ‘normal’ in a box photo booths, but that also produces what I believe to be better results.

For anyone who knows me, I won’t do anything unless I can do it really well (this annoys my wife and I’m often told to stop being such a perfectionist). However, working in an industry that is all about image, I can’t do things by half, it is either done right or not at all.

So, what is the difference to a normal photo booth? Mainly it is size, and size means people in a photo, or room to be more expressive and have more fun. Another major difference is the photos are taken by me, not an automated machine. This really helps to get the most out of the guests using the photo booth as I can use my skill as a photographer to engage with people and generally have a lot of fun. Lastly, it is quality, as I’m using one of my professional cameras, the images are professional quality, so if you want a big print then no problem at all. The Mark Smith Photography Photo Booth is like having a studio at your reception.

I’ve probably got you a little worried now as I’ve been talking about being big, well it’s not nearly as bad as you think, I just need a minium of 12′ x 12′ (3.6m x 3.6m) and we are good to go.

The bride and groom will get the photos at high resolution as part of their DVD set and guests are able to view and order any photos they would like from the password protected website. On top of that, the bride and groom will receive a large collage print made up from their favorite photos (see the first photo below).

Tanya and John’s Wedding – HMS Drake – New Continental – Plymouth Wedding Photographer

I’m not sure if I’m just lucky or something but I had another fantastic couple to photograph at their recent wedding. We started the day at Tanya’s mum’s house, then on to H.M.S. Drake for the wedding, up to the Plymouth Hoe for a few shots then finished off at the New Continental hotel. The weather behaved pretty well allowing us to get a great selection of photos.

I had a really enjoyable time, Taya and John are fantastic so hope they have a great life together.
